Norcross death ruled a homicide

NORCROSS - The death of a Norcross man found in his apartment late Wednesday has been ruled a homicide, police said Thursday.

Darryl Marcellus Mason, 38, was found in his apartment in the 200 block of Meadowood Commons off Beaver Ruin Road, according to Norcross Police Chief Dallas Stidd.

Police were called to the residence about 10 p.m. by a colleague of the man who was concerned when Mason did not show up for work. In the process of a welfare check, police found Mason's body.

Stidd did not indicate the manner in which Mason was killed.

Mason's car, a tan 1997 four-door Mazda Protege with a Georgia tag and front bumper damage, is missing, police said.

There was virtually no sign of disturbance early Thursday evening as children and adults milled about the 108-unit ranch-style apartment complex.

The apartment's leasing office could not immediately be reached for comment.
