Police: Drunk man tries to hide behind video game

NORCROSS - A man who reportedly fled police and hid behind a gas station arcade game Friday didn't stay hidden for long.

Police spotted the 33-year-old drinking beer outside a Chevron convenience store on South Norcross-Tucker Road in Norcross on Friday evening, according to a police report.

He saw police coming, ditched his beer, ran into the business and took refuge behind a video game, police said. The man, who is Hispanic and has no listed address, told police he had drank three beers, the report said.

He was arrested for disorderly conduct and loitering and prowling.

Woman says ex-husband stole car, threatened her

NORCROSS - A woman from Kansas told police her ex-husband stole her vehicle and threatened to kill her.

The 36-year-old woman said the man, who lives in Cumming, has custody of her children and she came to Georgia to see them. During a recent visit to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the woman said her husband left her there and took her vehicle. The woman was staying at a LaQuinta Inn in Norcross.

She told police Friday her ex-husband called her and drunkenly stated "that she had hurt their children so he was going to have to kill her," according to a police report.

A responding officer informed the woman about protective orders and how to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department about getting her vehicle back.

Woman allegedly hit by husband in domestic dispute

NORCROSS - A woman told police her husband punched her and dragged her by the hair during an argument, according to a police report.

Upon arriving at the residence, police questioned her husband who said nothing was wrong. The woman, however, told police her husband had been drinking all day - 24 beers, she said - and hit her in the arm and dragged her by the hair, the report said. She said the incident was witnessed by her 4-year-old daughter, who was crying.

The man, who said he only had two beers with lunch, was arrested for simple battery.

Man robbed at Norcross hotel

NORCROSS - A man said an armed black man kicked in his hotel room door and robbed him for not paying a woman the man had sex with earlier in the night, according to a police report.

The man, who was staying at an Intown Suites in the 1900 block of Willow Trail Parkway with a male friend, said a woman who was also staying with the duo called a friend to come over to the rented room, the report states. Later, the man alledged a tall black man wearing black jogging pants kicked open the door, pointed a handgun at the man and yelled, "Why you do my girl like that? Give me all your money and your wallet, too." After the shakedown, the suspect and woman fled in a green Ford Mustang toward Interstate 85.

The man's friend gave police a similar account.

Later, the man told police he had sex with the woman earlier that night. He did not pay her, however, because "he allowed her to stay with him in the room," according to the report.

The man and his friend could not provide any type of description of the woman, the report stated.
