LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett police crossed county lines Wednesday to track down the man they believe responsible for stabbing a 19 year old to death at a Norcross hotel.
Police arrested Larry Doonnell Daniely, 27, of Atlanta, on charges of murder and aggravated assault. He remains without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail. Police say Daniely began fighting Monday morning with the teen near a hotel room at the Norcross Extended Stay, then stabbed him. The victim, Michael Anthony Black Jr., died at the scene. A Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department fugitive squad found Daniely in DeKalb County on Wednesday, said Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman. Police were unsure where exactly the suspect was located or whom he was staying with. Police said the two men began fighting each other after a group of people squabbled near the hotel, located off Jimmy Carter Boulevard on Pelican Drive. Police have not commented on a possible motive for the stabbing. Daniely has a history of run-ins with Gwinnett law enforcement. Jail records show he was arrested in June 2006 for drug possession and traffic violations. He was caught with drugs again in May 2007, according to police. Daniely was incarcerated for more than seven months in the Gwinnett County Jail for the latter arrest.More like this story
