Donation to GSPCA helps fund vaccines for 75 puppies
LAWRENCEVILLE - A PetDoc donation has provided four metro Atlanta rescue organizations, including one in Gwinnett County, with funds to buy 75 puppy vaccinations. Among those receiving donations is the Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Suwanee. Others also benefiting from the gift are PAWS Atlanta, Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption and Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue and Adoption. Sorority, service organization to host ball in Atlanta LAWRENCEVILLE - The Upsilon Alpha Omega Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation present the fifth Biennial Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Ball at 6:30 p.m April 12 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. The Debutante Cotillion was designed for young women transitioning from high school to college. This formal affair is the culminating activity of months of enriching activities including mentoring, self-empowering/self-esteem building workshops, social activities, cultural outings and a mother/daughter luncheon for participants. Proceeds from the ball will benefit the Beauty P. Baldwin Scholarship Fund. In 2007, Upsilon Alpha Omega awarded eight scholarships to college-bound black female students and for the first time ever awarded an additional scholarship to a promising black male. For more information on the chapter's programs, log on to www.upsilonalphaomega.com. 10K race planned in Norcross NORCROSS - Norcross Neighbors and the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association are jointly sponsoring the Corners to Crossing 10K and Musicfest. Proceeds for the April 19 event will go to the Robert D. Fowler YMCA in Peachtree Corners and other local charities. The Musicfest portion, concluding with the popular Banks and Shane, is a day of music, children's games and other family oriented events that is designed to welcome in the spring.
