LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett police have a 20-year-old Gainesville man in custody charged with causing the Monday night accident that left four people dead.
Cody Rhoden turned himself in late Tuesday after police secured warrants for his arrest, police said. He faces a slew of charges, including four counts of vehicular homicide. He remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. Rhoden was accompanied by his lawyer at the time of his arrest, police said. Witnesses told police Rhoden was driving erratically on northbound Interstate 85 just before the accident involving four cars left four people dead, including three members of the same family en route to Lawrenceville from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. Gwinnett police shut down multiple lanes of I-85 this morning to reconstruct the accident, causing a mile-long snare for northbound commuters. The accident is believed to be the single deadliest crash on I-85 in Gwinnett in at least three years. Rhoden was employed at Gainesville Tire Service, jail records show. A manager at the business directed all questions to Rhoden's attorney.More like this story
