LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett County school board is hosting a series of meetings this month to inform residents about school system initiatives.

The annual area board meetings will take place at a high school within each board member's district. The first one will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday in Dacula High's new theater.

School representatives and community members will have the chance to address the board about any topics of interest to them, said Carole Boyce, the school board chairwoman.

"The area board meetings are something we look forward to each year," Boyce said. "It's an opportunity when we go out to each one of the districts ... and (the meetings) tend to highlight people who attend schools in those particular clusters."

Each meeting will be preceded by a 6:30 p.m. reception in the school's commons area.

The other four meetings are scheduled as follows:

· 7 p.m. April 15 at South Gwinnett High School (Brookwood, Shiloh and South Gwinnett clusters)

· 7 p.m. April 22 at Peachtree Ridge High School (Collins Hill, Mill Creek, North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge clusters)

· 7 p.m. April 24 at Berkmar High School (Berkmar, Meadowcreek and Parkview clusters)

· 7 p.m. April 29 at Duluth High School (Duluth and Norcross clusters).
