Committee considers accreditation

LAWRENCEVILLE - A committee from a regional accrediting agency is visiting Georgia Gwinnett College, the state's newest four-year postsecondary school.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges authorized this candidacy visit in December. The visiting committee will be on campus until early Wednesday morning, meeting with administrators, faculty, staff and students to verify documentation of compliance with standards and federal regulations.

Georgia Gwinnett College submitted its candidacy application materials Oct. 1. An institution is granted candidacy upon the committee's recommendation and subsequent actions by the Commission on Colleges.
