John LeRoy Thornberry, age 59 of Lilburn, GA, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007. John served in the Army during the Vietnam conflict as a Supply Sergeant and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked as a sales representative for automotive parts for over 25 years. John was an avid golfer, who enjoyed both playing and watching the sport. He was the son of the late LeRoy Emmett Thornberry and Emily Doris Moore Thornberry. John is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Davis Thornberry; daughter, Cheryl Lianne Renfroe and her husband Damon, Meeker, CO; son, Sean LeRoy Thornberry, Asheville, NC; brother, Phillip H. Thornberry and his wife Gail, Senoia, GA. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church, followed by burial with military honors in the Shadow Lawn Cemetery in LaGrange, GA at 4:30 p.m. Rev. Norton Campbell and Dr. Rick Long will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in John's memory to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel, 770-469-9811.
