NORCROSS - Wesleyan and Greater Atlanta Christian did not meet in the AAAA-AA playday at Wesleyan on Saturday, but each team swept through its six games without dropping a game.
GAC beat Decatur (25-16, 25-21), Avondale (25-10, 25-13), Hebron (25-10, 25-15) Buford (25-6, 25-19) and got a forfeit win from Cross Keys.
The Spartans (24-6, 6-0 Area 4A-AA) got 25 kills from Amanda Komisarow, 17 kills and four blocks from Anjelica Wilcox, six service aces from Megan Rosburg, 15 digs from Briana Jordan and 46 assists from Alex Shelton in its six matches.
The Wolves, who also got a forfeit win from Cross Keys, swept Avondale (25-6, 25-13), Hebron (25-8, 25-6), Decatur (25-14, 25-7), Buford (25-8 25-22) and Providence (25-9, 25-11).
In the five matched played Wesleyan's Grace Leah Baughn at 13 kills and eight digs, Haley Collins had 10 digs and 16 aces, Anna Keappler served nine aces and had seven kills and Paige Blair dished out 40 assists for Wesleyan (31-6).
Despite losses to Decatur and Wesleyan, Providence did post four wins on the day. The Stars (12-11) got solid play from Amelia Allen, Caroline Adams and Mandy Parker in its wins over Hebron, Buford, Avondale and Cross Keys.
Grayson wins Gold Bracket
LOGANVILLE - Grayson didn't allow a run in three games as it swept the day beating Loganville (10-0), Mill Creek (1-0) and Tift County (3-0) to win the Gold Bracket of the Brookwood Invitational on Saturday.
Mandi Burns (11-2) picked up two wins on the day over Loganville and Mill Creek and Nancy Hill (4-3) got the win over Tift County.
For the day offensively, Hayley Downs went 5-for-7 and scored three runs, Shannon Bear went 5-for-7 with three runs and four RBIs, Burns had three hits, two doubles and four RBIs and Lauren Mathis had three hits, two RBIs and a double.
North sweeps day
DACULA - Brittany Broome struck out 10 to pick up a win on the mound and went 4-7 with four stolen bases, a run and an RBI to help North top Dacula (5-2), Cherokee (4-0) and Spalding County (5-0) on Saturday at the Brookwood Invitational.
Against Dacula Mary Beth O'Rouke picked up her 11th win of the season and Brandee Kocik went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Kali Shimmin got her first-ever varsity win against Cherokee.
For the day, Emily Whitaker went 5-for-8 and Sammy Rao went 4-for-7 with four RBIs.
Mill Creek goes 2-1
LOGANVILLE - Hannah Graham won two games for Milll Creek Saturday in the Brookwood Invitational as the Hawks beat Tift County 8-3 and Loganville 13-0, but lost to Grayson 1-0.
Megan Lock took the loss to Grayson despite giving up just two hits and no earned runs in six inning.
Allie Millonig went 1-for-3 in the loss.
On the day, Lauren Stimus led the Hawks going 4-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs. Amerblie Saxton whent 2-for-4 with a home run against Tift County and Bullock was 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI against Loganville for the Hawks (21-5-2).
Collins Hill goes 2-1
SUWANEE - Collins Hill sandwiched a 3-2 loss to Sandy Creek with two five inning blowout wins Saturday beating Pike County 10-0 and Wesleyan 16-0
Kat Tarvin and Ering Collins picked up the two wins on the mound for the Eagles (14-8-1) each throwing complete games.
For the day, Lindsay Ellenburg had two hits, and RBI and four runs, Rachel Logan had four hits, two runs and three RBIs, Caroline Cooper had three hits, two runs and two RBIs, Catherine Palmer had three hits, three runs and three RBIs and Melissa Hinesley had two hits, two runs and an RBI.
To go with its loss to Collins Hill, Wesleyan beat Pike County 6-3, but lost 11-5 to Sandy Creek.
Dacula 7, Cherokee 0
DACULA - Allie Miles gave up just three hits and struck out seven to lead Dacula to a 7-0 win over Cherokee Saturday in the Brookwood Invitational Tournament.
Dixie Stewart (2-for-2) scored two runs, Kelsea Martin (2-for-4) had two RBIs and scored a run, and Kori Waugh (2-for-3) and Jenny Willis (1-for-1) each had an RBI for the Falcons (8-8-3).
GAC wins Diamond Bracket
NORCROSS - Jessica Coan picked up a pair of wins for GAC Saturday at the Spartans won the Diamond Bracket of the Brookwood Invitational. GAC beat Kennesaw Mountain 1-0 and Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe 2-0 in eight innings to clinch the bracket.
GAC (21-1-1) lost its final game of the day - and first of the season - to Buford 6-4, but Molly Mitchell hit a home run and had two RBIs in the loss.
