NORCROSS - Any momentum North Forsyth built with its opening-game onside kick, Tyler Maloof stole three plays later.

After picking up one of its four first-half first downs North Forsyth quarterback Eli Chester lofted his second pass of the game high over the middle and into the hands of Maloof at the 4 yard line.

Maloof, on his third interception in the last two games, returned the ball 37 yards to the 41 and the No. 2 Norcross offense took over from there, leading the Blue Devils to a 48-0 win over North Forsyth on a night when No. 1 Roswell lost to Walton 13-10

"The pick came right across the middle and I saw it right there," Maloof said. "I just went up and got it.

"They had a lot of momentum coming off that onside kick and that interception hurt them. We played great throughout."

Four plays after Maloof's interception, a Nick Sorel one-yard dive gave Norcross a 7-0 lead.

After a North Forsyth (0-4, 0-1) three-and-out, it took six more plays for the Blue Devils to go up 14-0 on a 12-yard pass from Sorel to Brice Butler.

As the Norcross defense - which did not allow North Forsyth to pick up its second first down until late in the second quarter - continued to dominate, the offense just cruised.

"I just can't tell you how much I am proud of the defense," head coach Keith Maloof said. "Coming into the year we knew we were going to be pretty good offensively, but now the defense is just getting better and better weekly. A bunch of no-names are starting to make names for themselves."

Quarterback Charles King ended the first quarter with one of his two touchdown passes on the night, an 18-yard loft to Devonta Bolton, and Sorel (6 of 6 for 93 yards and 2 TDs) hit Butler (5 catches for 75 yards and 2 TDs) one more time in the first half as Norcross (4-0, 1-0 Region 7-AAAAA) built a dominant 34-0 halftime lead.

On the second play of the second half, Norcross used its second of three interceptions to bury any chance of a comeback when Bolton snagged a tipped pass and sprinted 40 yards for his second touchdown of the night.
