Bostain's Journal 3

Since my last journal entry we have driven through three different countries and I have had a little more time to travel.

We started off with a three-game tournament in Luxembourg. It was about a five-hour ride from where we are located. Luxembourg is very scenic with a lot of green grass and rolling hills. There are cows and goats everywhere. We won two out of three games. We played one team from Luxembourg and two from Germany.

On the way there we drove through Belgium, which was very scenic like Luxembourg at least the part we went through. The following weekend we went to Dusseldorf, Germany, for just one game against the home team. It was about a 2.5-hour bus ride.

I think we played in their secondary gym and they had a few people show up with drums and they were banging on those a lot which was a little different. The scoreboard wasn't working so we didn't know what the score was down the stretch, but they said we lost by eight.

The game was on a Saturday and coach gave us our first complete day off on Sunday. So my teammate Gerad (Punch) and myself decided to go to Amsterdam for the day. Amsterdam was really nice, it was everything you hear about.

We got off the train and didn't really know where we were going but we ended up making our way to the Red Light District. We weren't sure where we were but all of a sudden there popped up a girl in the window so we then knew we had found it. We walked through there for a little bit and then had lunch kind of in the downtown circle, with some statues and a big church. We couldn't stay there long because I think I inhaled something that I was allergic to and I was sneezing everywhere and my eyes were getting watery. Somebody was smoking something I didn't like.

After lunch, we went to the Van Gogh museum, which was pretty cool. I recognized some of the works, which was nice. After that we made our way back to the train station and headed back to Zwolle. We have two more games this week and I think our regular season starts Oct. 7. That's all I have for now. Dewey (Goodbye).
