Man found dead at Duluth apartment complex April 19, 2014

Mr. Richard Albert Tarpley, Sr., age 77 of Cleveland, formerly of Snellville passed away on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Lanier Park Campus of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Tarpley was born in Cobb County the son of the late William Pascal and Elizabeth Nellie Daves Tarpley. He retired from General Motors in 1987 with 34 years of service and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mr. Tarpley was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army receiving the Korean service medal with two bronze service stars and the United Nations service medal. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Tarpley, Cleveland; daughter and son in law, Rhonda and Jack Sanford, Cornelia; son and daughter in law, Richard, Jr. and JoAnn Fain Tarpley, Cleveland; grandchildren, Heather and Trey Godfrey, Simponville, Brandon Tarpley, Cleveland, Joseph and Megan Vandergriff, Cleveland; sisters, Alene Turner, East Point, Lois Shell, Social Circle, Wynell Doss, Loganville; brothers, Tom Tarpley, Snellville, Doug Tarpley, Conyers. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2007 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Yonah View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8p.m. on Saturday.
