Prep Roundup: No. 3 Eagles fall to North in 9 innings

SUWANEE - Alexis Anderson's single in the bottom of the ninth plated Abby Engelberth to give fourth-ranked North Gwinnett a 4-3 win over Collins Hill in Region 7-AAAAA action.

Collins Hill (9-4-1, 3-1) carried a 2-1 lead into the seventh inning, but Emily Beam delivered a two-out, RBI double to tie the game at 2-2. The Eagles, ranked third, also scored a run in the top of the eighth, but Emily Whitaker tied it at 3-3 with a two-out, RBI double.

North (14-3-1, 5-1) also received an RBI double from Kasey Martin in the sixth inning while pitcher Brittany Broome (3-3) entered the game in the sixth inning to record the win.

For Collins Hill, Alexa Lewis was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Kathleen Pulliam was 2-for-4 with a run, and Lindsay Ellenburg finished with a hit and two runs.

SOFTBALL

Peachtree Ridge 4, North Forsyth 2

SUWANEE - Allison Leigh was 1-for-3 with two steals and two runs while Callie Fernandez was 1-for-2 with two RBIs on Thursday in helping ninth-ranked Peachtree Ridge to a 4-2 win over North Forsyth in Region 7-AAAAA.

Kensi Weir was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lions (13-5, 5-0) while Gabby Bedard was 2-for-2 with a stolen base, and Emily Osterhaus added a hit and a steal. Krysten Connelly pitched seven innings for the win, allowing four hits, two runs (one earned) with four strikeouts.

South 1, Parkview 0

SNELLVILLE - Rachel Ludick faced just two hitters over the minimum on Thursday, striking out four with two hits to lead South Gwinnett to a 1-0 shutout over Parkview in Region 8-AAAAA play. Ludick improved to 6-2 while South moved to 11-7 overall and 3-0 in the region.

Aimee Koehlke was 2-for-3, including an RBI single in the fourth to plate Hanna Ennis.

Dacula 5, Habersham Central 2

DACULA - Samantha Ramey went 2-for-3 with three RBIs on Thursday to lead Dacula to a 5-2 win over Habersham Central in Region 8-AAAA action.

Sarah Bentley also went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Dacula (6-4-2, 4-2) while Dixie Stewart finished with two hits. Kori Waugh (3-1) started and went four innings for the win, allowing two hits with two strikeouts while Allie Miles struck out eight in three innings of work for the save.

Buford 17, Wesleyan 0

BUFORD - Nichole Bell went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, including a three-run homer, to lead Buford in a 17-0 rout over Wesleyan in four innings on Thursday in a Region

6-AA game.

Ashley Razey added a three-run double for Buford (11-0-1, 5-0) while Alysha Rudnik was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run. Chelsie Thomas also had three hits and an RBI while Melissa Higginbotham (8-0) picked up the win, pitching four innings with one hit, two strikeouts and one walk.

Hebron 4, Commerce 3

DACULA - Britt Pecht singled in the bottom of the seventh to score Megan Dixon and give Hebron a 4-3 win over Commerce on Thursday in a Region 8-A game.

Megan Dixon finished with two hits and two runs for Hebron (8-8, 5-2) while Natalie Dixon had one hit. Elizabeth Stanley and Alainna Atkinson each scored a run while Victoria Sink (5-2) struck out 17 in recording the win.

VOLLEYBALL

Dacula remains undefeated

DANIELSVILLE - Ninth-ranked Dacula remained unbeaten on Thursday after a 25-4, 25-13 sweep of Madison County.

The win improved the Falcons to 16-0 overall and 6-0 in Area 8-NAAAA.

Roselande Corneille led Dacula with nine assists while serving four aces. Abbie Daniel also had six kills while Brianna Blake and Sara Beth White each had two kills.

GAC sweeps Hardaway and Central

NORCROSS - Alex Shelton delivered 27 assists, and Anjelica Wilcox pounded 10 kills as Greater Atlanta Christian swept both Hardaway (25-19, 25-21) and Central Gwinnett (25-20, 25-13) on Thursday night.

Amanda Komisarow finished with 13 kills and 13 digs while Briana Jordan tallied five blocks as GAC, ranked No. 4 in Class AA/A, improved to 14-4.

Central (4-8) also dropped its match to Hardaway, losing in three games 22-25, 25-23, 20-25.

Hebron falls to Meadowcreek, Providence

DACULA - Hebron dropped to 9-10 on Thursday with a pair of losses to Providence (25-21, 25-12) and Meadowcreek (22-25, 25-18, 25-12).

Elise Murray recorded five kills for Hebron while Victoria Whitley and Sarah Hedrick each finished with four.
