Gwinnett Daily Post
The Gwinnett County Fair kicked off Thursday, and we've come up with the top 10 things to do before the fair wraps up on Sept. 23.
1. Get a front-row seat for the annual Gwinnett County Fair parade, which departs at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. 2. Take a bite of the latest in fried-food offerings. In recent years, options have included everything from strawberries to Snickers bars. 3. Test your stomach after all that fried food by taking a spin on one of 50 twirling carnival rides. 4. Get a glimpse of the world's smallest woman. Well, not really - the days of sword-swallowers and bearded women are long over, but one attraction at the fair pays tribute to the glory days of traveling circus freaks. 5. Scarf down as many Krystal burgers as you can during a Sept. 21-23 qualifying round for the Krystal Square Off World Hamburger Eating contest. 6. Pay tribute to the art of raising livestock by dropping in on one of the goat, sheep or cow shows. 7. Witness the stunts of the Fearless Flores Thrill Show, featuring The Amazing Human Cannonball and a "beautiful lady daredevil" who "defies death 65 feet in the air!" 8. Sing along to "Trashy Women" and "Queen of Memphis" during the Confederate Railroad show at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. 9. Check out the county's largest tomatoes, squash and cucumbers, on display in the exhibit hall. 10. Plop down on a bench for the county's best people-watching of the year. - Lifestyle Editor Shelley Mann SideBar: If You Go What: Gwinnett County Fair When: Through Sept. 23.
