Gwinnett Daily Post
Central Gwinnett faces an 0-2 team, but it's a winless team that should be quite a challenge. Despite a rough start to 2007, Warner Robins was a semifinalist last season.
"They're 0-2, but look at who they've played," Central head coach Dennis Roland said. Warner Robins has struggled offensively in both of its losses. It opened the season with a 20-3 loss to state-ranked Camden County in the Corky Kell Classic, rushing 27 times for 22 yards (0.8 per carry) and completing 1 of 8 passes for four yards. Last week Northside, the No. 1 team in Class AAAA, held the Demons to 31 rushes for 87 yards (2.8 per carry) and just 2 of 9 passing for a yard. The Demons prefer to run the ball, which could prove difficult against a big Central defensive line that features Dewayne Cherrington, Michael Longo and Josh Aiken-Phillips. Aiken-Phillips had four tackles for losses in a season-opening win vs. Dacula. Central had a bye week to tweak Roland's new "Air Raid" offense installed by Roland, in his first season at Central.
