Courthouse to host an evening with Mark Twain
LAWRENCEVILLE - Many do not know that Mark Twain the humorist was also a musician who played the guitar, banjo and piano.

Shorty Howell Park to hold craft fair, yard sale Saturday
DULUTH - Shorty Howell Park will hold a yard sale and craft fair Saturday.
Spaces inside are available to rent for $20, with outside spaces going for $15. Reservations are required for sellers.

Dacula to hold Snake Day
DACULA - Saturday is Snake Day.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Georgia Herpetological Society will be in Dacula with animals, snakes of Gwinnett and information on venomous snakes in Georgia.
The cost is $3, payable at the door. Ages 3 and under are free.

Tax bills due
LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County property tax bills, mailed in July, included payment coupons and reply envelopes for two installment payments.
The first installment amount deadline is Saturday and the second installment amount deadline is Nov. 15. Installments not paid by the stated due dates will incur a 5 percent penalty. In addition, interest will begin to accrue at the rate of 1 percent per month beginning Nov. 16.
Gwinnett taxpayers may make their payments in person at two Tax Commissioner locations - the Property Tax Customer Service Office, located in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, and the Tax Commissioner's North Gwinnett Motor Vehicle tag office, located on Mall of Georgia Boulevard in Buford.
Both offices process property tax payments and provide receipts. Customers should note that because of a scheduled state computer system shutdown, the North Gwinnett office will be closed Saturday. Each tag office has a payment drop-off location that can be used anytime.
Payments may be made over the telephone using bank account information. Also, taxpayers may pay by credit card or e-check over the Internet (convenience fees apply for credit card transactions).
