Medical center names new director of rehab
GAINESVILLE - Northeast Georgia Medical Center has named Kevin Gohman director of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services. Gohman will oversee the 25-bed rehabilitation unit on the medical center's main campus, 743 Spring St. in Gainesville. Gohman has worked at the medical center for 10 years as a physical therapist. Prior to joining the medical center, Gohman worked at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa. Church to host blood drive BUFORD - First United Methodist Church is teaming up with LifeSouth to host a blood drive. Look for the bloodmobile from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the church at 285 E. Main St. in Buford. All donors will receive a complimentary ice cream cone at the Mayfield Dairy in Braselton, a recognition item and a cholesterol screening. Stroke tests to be offered DULUTH - Residents living near Duluth can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke, heart attack or bone fracture. Call 800-683-4068 or visit www.lifelinescreening.com. 5K to benefit nonprofit FLOWERY BRANCH - The first Sterling Stampede 5K and Treehouse Tot Trot will take place next week at Sterling on the Lake, a Flowery Branch subdivision. The event benefits My Sister's Place, a nonprofit organization providing shelter, safety and life skills training to women in need. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Sterling Clubhouse, and the Treehouse Tot Trot, a half-mile fun run for kids 10 and under, starts at 8:30 a.m. across the street from the clubhouse. The 5K registration fee is $25, and the cost for the trot is $10 per child. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Late registration is from 7 to 8:30 a.m. The cost will be $30 for adults and $15 for Tot Trot runners.More like this story
