Tax office to be closed
LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner's North Gwinnett Tag Office will be closed Sept. 15, while the Georgia Department of Revenue conducts computer system maintenance. The office is located at 2735 Mall of Georgia Boulevard in Buford. During the maintenance period, from 7 p.m. Sept. 14 to 6 a.m. Sept. 17, customers will not be able to renew their tags over the Internet or through the Tax Commissioner's Motor Vehicles Customer Service telephone line. Additionally, on this day the office will be unable to process property tax payments. Festival this weekend STATHAM - The Statham Sunflower Festival and 5K run/walk will be held Sept. 15. The free festival begins at Statham Elementary School at 9 a.m. followed by a 6 p.m. run/walk with music from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The walk will benefit the Highland House. Snake day to be held DACULA - Staff from McDaniel Farm Park and representatives from the Georgia Herpetological Society will host the county's second annual snake day. The event will be held at the Dacula Park Activity Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 15. Snake Day will feature live reptiles and amphibians including the snakes of Gwinnett and information on venomous snakes found in Georgia. Visitors will see some of the state's endangered reptiles as well as learn about other exotic species. The day will include lectures on venomous snake identification and the reptiles and amphibians of Gwinnett County. Admission to Snake Day is $3 per person. Those under the age of 3 get in free.
