Delta sends flight to Honduras to help customers escape hurricane
ATLANTA - Delta Air Lines sent an extra, unscheduled flight Tuesday to Honduras to help customers escape Hurricane Felix, which struck the Central American country as a fearsome Category 5 storm. The Atlanta-based airline, the nation's third-largest, said it has more than 100 customers in Honduras who had been scheduled to remain there until Saturday, said spokesman Andy McDill. Delta said it planned to pick up passengers from the inland airport at San Pedro Sula, about 90 miles southwest of Roatan Island. Adjutant general slated to retire ATLANTA - Lt. Gen. David Poythress will retire in November as Georgia's adjutant general after leading the state's National Guard forces through the Iraq war and the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Poythress has held the military post since 1999. He is the only three-star general to lead Georgia's Department of Defense. Poythress, a lawyer, served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a judge advocate officer. He has also been a longtime figure in Georgia politics, serving as Georgia's labor commissioner and secretary of state. 1-year-old boy drowns in pool MARIETTA - A 1-year-old boy drowned in a pool in his family's backyard. The boy had been missing for about 10 minutes Monday when his grandfather found him face down in the pool about 4:30 p.m., Cobb County police spokeswoman Cassie Reece said. 'There was only a small amount of water in the bottom of the drained pool,' Reece said. The grandfather was performing CPR on the boy when emergency workers arrived, Reece said. The boy was brought to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.More like this story
