Dish: Room at Twelve

Hours: Room at Twelve serves breakfast from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and from 7 to 10:30 a.m. weekends, with a brunch served from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekends. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Dinner is served from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Atmosphere: While the restaurant is located the lobby of Twelve, a new 39-story residential building/hotel, it never feels cramped or crowded. The low-lit, intimate dining space is filled with natural wood tables and flowing curtains. High ceilings and oddly angled tables provide breathing room and a sense of organized chaos.

Geometric shapes and nontraditional angles are a common thread throughout the restaurant's decor. Even the bathrooms hold true to the theme. Rather than traditional square or rectangular mirrors, the space in front of the sinks is made up of sporadically placed, overlapping round mirrors.

The menu: A far cry from the continental breakfast bar, Room's sweeping steakhouse-geared menu includes all three meals, as well as sushi, cocktails, wines and desserts.

The breakfast menu includes innovative twists on traditional entrees. For example, it's not just oatmeal. It's Irish oatmeal, topped with sour cherries, creme fraiche and vanilla sugar. And it's not just hash browns. It's onion-and-mushroom hash browns.

For midday diners, the lunch menu centers on sandwiches, salads and soups, with a few entrees thrown in. The Room wedge salad is literally a half head of lettuce, covered in bacon and salty-spicy pecans, drenched in blue cheese dressing, and sided with a deviled egg.

The daintier arugula salad mixes snap peas, goat cheese, toasted walnuts, dried apricots and cherries, all tossed in a light balsamic vinaigrette. The open-faced hot turkey sandwich, topped with bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and hot brown gravy on sourdough toast is also a lunch-time staple.

Dinner brings with it an even heftier menu, with offerings ranging from peppercorn tuna with a colorful fennel puree to the Waygu hot dog, topped with spicy brown mustard, chili ketchup and sweet relish.

Prime cuts of meats can be customized to order, with sauces such as the house blend of dates and sherry vinegar, or fiery chimichurri verde. Add-ons include lobster or fried oysters.

Beverages: Room at Twelve is stocked with a full bar and wine cellar. A variety of sakes and cocktails, like the Carrot Gingerini and Red Pepper Mojitotini, are staples, and a large wine list can be paired with the equally ample menu. Sodas, tea, water, juices and coffees are also served.

Dessert: Sweet endings here are called "Sugared," and rightfully so. The desserts menu is ultra-sweet, and green-hued pistachio creme brulee, topped with roasted pistachios, is a favorite.

Things you might not know: Room is dual concept launched by the Concentrics Restaurant Group, which owns a multitude of Atlanta hot spots including Tap, Trois and One Midtown Kitchen, and the Novare Group, the Atlanta development group that owns the Twelve branch of hotel and condos. The two groups also worked together to open Lobby at Twelve, and Twelve Atlantic Station.
