LILBURN - A Berkmar High School student stabbed last week in a bathroom fight was jailed recently, joining the boy who allegedly stabbed him.
Both teens remained in jail Tuesday on charges stemming from the fight in a boys' bathroom. The alleged stabbing victim, Efraim Ruiz, 18, of Norcross was booked Sunday for affray - or public fighting - and disruption of a public school, jail records show. Ruiz was treated at Gwinnett Medical Center last Tuesday and released. Ruiz remains at the Gwinnett County Detention Center on $1,200 bond, a Sheriff's Department spokeswoman said. A school district spokesperson said last week the teens arranged to meet for the fight, and police later seized a 31⁄2-inch knife they suspect was used in the fight. Ruiz's alleged assailant, Breiner Alejandro Martinez-Londono, 17, of Lawrenceville faces charges of aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon in addition to charges of fighting and disruption. He remains jailed on $13,000 bond. Ruiz, a high school senior, has been jailed twice in the past year, according to arrest records. Most recently, Ruiz is accused of robbing a man in March at gunpoint at the Northridge Apartments in Norcross and stealing his car. The teen was arrested in Lawrenceville and charged with theft by receiving, theft by taking and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Ruiz was indicted Oct. 10 on those charges and is awaiting trial, according to court officials. The Sheriff's Department has no record of past arrests for Martinez-Londono.More like this story
