Employee robbed in Kroger parking lot
LAWRENCEVILLE - A Kroger employee was hit on the head and robbed Friday night while walking to her vehicle.
The employee said she noticed a Hispanic man following her as she walked through the parking lot of the Kroger on Herrington Road in Lawrenceville, a police report said.
She said the man hit her and then snatched her purse as she fell to the ground.
The man was wearing blue jeans, a dark shirt and white shoes. The woman said she did not see that the man had a weapon.
Thief leaves knife behind
LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man reported his home was burglarized while he was out of town last week.
According to a police report, the man's mother discovered the house on Crystal Lake Drive had been broken into when she went to check on the home Saturday.
The woman found a back window had been opened and the screen cut with a kitchen knife.
Jewelry and electronics were taken from the home.
Police found the knife believed to be used to cut the window screen stuck into the wood of the back deck.
Student wanted in cologne fire
HOSCHTON - A 17-year-old student is wanted for allegedly igniting some Axe body spray during class Thursday.
According to an arrest warrant, Jonathan Cody Hannon of Buford was in an in-school suspension class with eight other students at Mill Creek High School when he allegedly ignited the fire. Hannon fled when students were evacuated from the on-site trailer due to smoke.
According to an affidavit, Hannon is wanted on charges of reckless conduct and disrupting a public school.
School district spokeswoman Sloan Roach said no one was injured and there was no damage to school property. The fire reportedly dissipated after a brief flash of flames.
Roach said Hannon is facing disciplinary action from the school.
Man hit over head after taxi ride
BUFORD - A Buford man was reportedly assaulted by a taxi driver outside his home Saturday morning.
According to a police report, the driver hit the man on the head with a football helmet after a discrepancy over payment.
The pair reportedly agreed on a $20 fare before the ride, but the driver became irate when time came to pay, demanding $30 from the customer.
The man was hit in the head as he pulled out his wallet. The driver took an unknown amount of money from the man's hand and fled.
The victim was treated at Gwinnett Medical Center for a laceration over his left eye.
Employee robbed in McDonald's lot
NORCROSS - An unknown amount of money was stolen from a McDonald's employee Wednesday as she attempted to transport store funds to a nearby bank.
According to a police report, the employee was walking to her vehicle at the fast-food restaurant at 7070 Jimmy Carter Blvd. when a black man came from behind and grabbed the bag of money.
The employee said she did not know how much money was inside the bag, but she said it usually contains about $4,000.
Two other employees reportedly tried to run after the man but said he dropped the bag of money and got away.
