BRASELTON - Looking to deck your halls with antique charm and holiday cheer in one fell swoop?
Look no further than the Braselton Antique and Holiday Festival later this month.
Now in its fifth year, Braselton's biannual hit with shoppers will be held Oct. 27 and 28. Dealers from metro Atlanta and as far as the Carolinas will line Braselton Park with antique furniture, glass and pottery, collectibles and "a little bit of everything found in years past," said organizer Richard Orcutt.
The festival has been expanded this year to include a holiday theme, with additional vendors and workshops offering all things Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Admission and parking, as always, are free.
"Really, it's for the grown-ups - it's not a child's activity," Orcutt said. "It's for people that have homes and are established, looking to furnish their homes with antiques."
Orcutt said featured antiques will range in price from "next to nothing to four or five figures," he said.
The festival got its start by residents bent on preserving Braselton's historic charm, Orcutt said.
In April 2003, the antique merchants of Braselton and neighboring Hoschton banded together to pull off the first festival. So successful was the event, vendors and entertainers returned for an encore in October that year, Orcutt said.
To find the festival, take Interstate 85 north to exit 129 - then simply follow the signs.
"This will be a well-attended, quality festival," Orcutt said.
