SNELLVILLE - A 21-year-old Snellville man is wanted for reportedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Tyree Marlon Hines of 3112 Dove Court has been accused of statutory rape. According to police, the 21-year-old allegedly had sex with the 14-year-old in the woods behind the Snellville Public Library in August. Snellville Police Detective Tim Colgan said he believed the sex between the two was consentual. He said the detective working on the case was not available to confirm details. "The problem is she's 14 and he's 21," Colgan said. "I think they knew each other and said, 'Let's meet at the library,' and they hid in the woods." According to jail records, police have arrested Hines before, charging him with three counts of felony burglary in November 2006 and interference with custody in August of this year. Hines is on probation for the 2006 burglary charges, according to the warrant. Jail records show Hines has not yet been taken into custody on the statutory rape charges.More like this story
