DULUTH - Gwinnett police on Friday released the names of a couple found dead in their Duluth apartment this week.
Police believe Cleophus Freeman Jr., 33, shot his companion, Kellie L. Brown, 38, to death Wednesday before turning the gun on himself. Police found their bodies Wednesday morning at the Idlewylde Apartments on Boggs Road in Duluth. The two lived together in the apartment. Investigators are calling the incident a murder/suicide. Gwinnett police responded to the apartment complex after a concerned person who worked with the couple called police. The caller reported Freeman and Brown had recently been experiencing difficulty in their relationship. "They both worked for the same place and both did not report to work for the last two days, which was unusual," said Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman. Spellman was unsure where the two were employed. According to jail records, Freeman was employed in manufacturing during his latest arrest in 2005. He was arrested in Gwinnett County twice that year, first on marijuana charges and later for various traffic violations.More like this story
