Buford 56, Walker 0

MARIETTA - As the football season presses on, it becomes more and more evident that the Buford Wolves are not going to lose in the regular season.

They continued their march to the playoffs on Friday night and once again in rather convincing fashion, defeating Walker 56-0 to improve to 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in Region 6-AA.

Buford scored four times in the first quarter, the first coming on a 19-yard touchdown run by Cody Vining less than two minutes into the game. Kicker Lawson McGlon knocked the point after attempt through the uprights to give Buford a 7-0 lead.

The next score came on a pitch to top running back Demetris Murray, who promptly darted down field and zipped past every Walker Wolverine in front of him for the score.

On the ensuing drive, Walker fumbled the ball and Buford pounced on it for the turnover. Buford knew what to do next as it pushed across another touchdown on a 2-yard run by fullback Tyler King. The visitors capped off the first quarter on a 49-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Twoey Hosch to Murray for another touchdown.

Before the Wolverines knew what happened, they were in a 28-0 hole at the end of the first that they would not be able to dig themselves out of.

Hosch would finish going 4 of 6 for 117 yards. Murray was the game's leading rusher as he totaled 62 yards on nine carries.

The second half was full of younger players who were filling in for the Buford starters, but they did more than just fill in.

Storm Johnson, a running back, nearly caught the game's leading rusher as he totaled nine carries for 54 yards of his own and even got into the end zone in the third quarter.

It was a team win and Buford head coach Jess Simpson was pleased with his team's performance to say the least. He said that this win started with the team's solid practice this week.

"I was really pleased with our kids' preparation this week," Simpson said. "We really had a great process on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We really improved working against each other."

Buford was just continuing its pattern of absolutely mauling their opponents. The Wolves have combined to outscore opponents 387-46 and the win over Walker marked their second shutout of the season.
