NORCROSS - Wesleyan's volleyball team defeated host Greater Atlanta Christian 25-13, 25-18 on Tuesday night to reach the finals of the Area 4-AA/A Tournament.
The Wolves (46-6) also earned the right to host the tournament finals Thursday at 7 p.m. They face a rematch with GAC, which rebounded from its loss to Wesleyan to defeat Decatur (25-20, 19-25, 25-23).
For the Wolves, Anne Marie Armstrong had two aces and nine kills while Betsy Smith had four aces, six kills and five digs for Wesleyan. Grace Leah Baughn had four kills and three digs for the victors, and Maggie Smith contributed 20 assists.
GAC, after falling to Wesleyan, came back to beat Decatur (a winner over Buford). Amanda Komisarow led the Spartans (32-11) with 24 kills. Anjelica Wilcox added 12 kills, Briana Jordan had 15 digs and Alex Shelton picked up 43 assists.
Grayson wins two
LOGANVILLE - Grayson defeated Rockdale and Ola on Tuesday, heading into the area tournament on a high note.
The Rams (27-19, 6-1) were led by Nicki Hannon (13 kills), Emily McCloy (12 kills), Elexis Quimby (11 kills) and Stefanie Cash (37 assists).
Grayson opens the area tournament against Shiloh at 4 p.m. Thursday on the Generals' home court.
