GRAYSON - The Grayson City Council on Monday night decided to participate in the Gwinnett Municipal Association's Tax Equity Study by funding its part in the amount of $2,100, or 75 cents per resident.
Grayson and the other participating cities have employed Governmental Solutions Limited of Atlanta to report on possible inequities in the present system and find out which services are duplicated, or "double taxed." Gwinnett County has employed the Carl Vinson Institute to do a similar study. Most cities in Gwinnett County are participating in the study, which is expected to take two to three months to complete. "It's going to help some cities more than it helps us," said Mayor Jim Hinkle. "We think it's a good start," said Councilwoman Allison Rooks.More like this story
