SUWANEE - The newest resident of Suwanee's Town Center will be the city itself.
The City Council approved a contract Thursday to build a new City Hall behind the fountain at the Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road park. Turner Construction was chosen for the work, which will cost $7,143,420. "It's nice to be past this whole process," Mayor Nick Masino said. "Seeing it come out of the ground will be exciting." Masino said the new city edifice will not only give government staffers more room, but it will also allow the Police Department to expand. Since a small jail and communications equipment are located at the current Buford Highway City Hall, the Police Department will continue the use of the building, he said. Also during Thursday's called meeting, the City Council approved a construction contract for Sims Lake Park, a 63-acre passive park on Suwanee Dam Road.More like this story
