LAWRENCEVILLE - Rain late this week kept workers from closing a lane on U.S. Highway 78, again delaying scheduled clearing.
But Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope said no one was griping about the delay, which is using rain days that have been built into the project. Instead, the closure will be rescheduled for Monday through Wednesday. The eastbound outside lane from Glenn Club Drive to Davis Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. When it rains, Pope said, it's not worth workers waiting for the wet weather to let up because they need to be out of the road by 3 p.m. It takes about an hour to set up the site, she said. The $31.5 million project should be completed in November 2009. The closures will allow workers to clear and remove debris for the widening and median project, which will eliminate the road's reversible lane.More like this story
