Cecil Starlin Bridgewater

Cecil Starlin Bridgewater, age 79 of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 6, 2007, in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Rev. Watson Swope, Rev. Gwendalyn Moore and Rev. Jeremy Spear will officiate. Burial Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville, GA. On December 27, 1927, the late Mr. and Mrs. (Anna Mae Sheetz) Perry Scott Bridgewater were blessed with the birth of their seventh child, a son whom they named Cecil Starlin. Born in Martin County, Indiana, he was one of their eight children. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death: William Woodrow, Cletus Shelby, Charles Everett, Viola Mae, Ophia Marie and Mary Catherine. Cecil began his journey in life as a student at the Strawn School in Loogootee, Indiana and attended the Loogootee Public Schools. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines and on April 7, 1946, he joined the U. S. Army and served in Korea. After an honorable discharge from the military Cecil worked at the Crane Naval Depot in Crane, IN. On January 22, 1949, Cecil married Mary Ruth Swickard and into this family was born three beautiful baby girls. Cecil attended the Trinity Gospel Tabernacle in Loogootee, IN and in 1957 graduated from God's Bible School in Cincinnati, OH. After receiving his ministerial licenses he went on to pastor churches in Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania over the next 39 years. Cecil departed this life on earth for a heavenly eternal life leaving to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Mary Ruth Swickard Bridgewater of 57 years; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Faye and Ronald Reitz, Debra Gail and Ray Ankeny all of Lawrenceville, GA; Connie Mae & Franklin Daniels of Gainesville, GA. He also leaves seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Ronda (Reitz) and Rev. Jeremy Spear with Jordan, Alexis and Taylor of Cairo, MI; Jonathan and Allison Reitz of Winder GA; Rev. Gwendalyn (Ankeny) and Jasson Moore with Wesley, Hannah and Gabriella of Hiram, GA; Melody (Ankeny) and Ronnie Hager with Ashleigh, Kayla and Ryan of Auburn, GA; Airman Anthony and Stephanie Ankeny of Buford, GA; Justin Daniels and Heather Daniels both of Gainesville, GA; Brother and sister-in-law: Alonzo Raymond and Margaret Bridgewater of Loogootee, IN; brother-in-law: Freddie Eugene Swickard, Indianapolis, IN; sisters-in-law, Emma Eileen Cole, Washington, IN, Julia Ann Swickard, Centralia, IL and a host of nieces and nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
