LAWRENCEVILLE - Planned closures on U.S. Highway 78 didn't happen Tuesday, but a different stretch of the road is now scheduled to close through Friday.
Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope said Tuesday's scheduled work did not occur. But the road's outside eastbound lane should be closed from Killian Club Drive to Davis Road through Friday. The closure will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. so workers can clear and remove debris from the road. Pope said the clearing is part of site work for the project, which will change a reversible lane system into a divided highway. Actual road work is due to begin by the end of the month and the project should be finished by the end of November in 2009. A ground breaking ceremony was held last month. The $31.5 million project has been planned for more than a decade.More like this story
