NORCROSS - A Lawrenceville man underwent surgery Sunday night following a drive-by shooting and is expected to survive, police said Monday.
According to a statement from Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman, the 24-year-old man was shot while driving his vehicle on Beaver Ruin Road about 9:45 p.m. She said he drove to the QuikTrip gas station at 1515 Beaver Ruin Road where police responded to aid the injured man.
Prior to the shooting the victim said he was antagonized at a night club by several men. Authorities said the men also made hand gestures toward the victim believed to be gang signs.
According to Spellman, the victim's name is not being released due to the nature of the offense and the ongoing investigation.
Neither the name of the hospital where the victim was taken nor the name of the club where the man was shot are being released, Spellman added.
