Gwinnett Young Singers have a busy performance schedule

The celebrated Gwinnett Young Singers will be on the run this holiday season.

The various choirs that make up the whole organization - including the Concert Choir, the Hudgens Choir, the Treble Choir and the new Georgia Young Men's Ensemble - will take the stage many times throughout the next few weeks.

Under the artistic direction of Lynn Urda, the Concert and Hudgens choirs will again perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This is the 10th anniversary of the collaboration, and it's one that seems to be greatly enjoyed by participants and audiences alike.

"Christmas with the ASO and Chorus" will be held Thursday and Dec. 7 and 8 in the Woodruff Arts Center. The annual tradition began with the ASO's illustrious Robert Shaw. This year, more than 400 musicians will participate. Along with the Gwinnett Young Singers, the voices of the ASO, the ASO Chorus and the Morehouse Glee Club will thrill listeners with the glory of the Christmas story. For tickets, visit www.atlantasymphony.org.

The Concert and Hudgens choirs will come together again for "Christmas with the Atlanta Sacred Chorale" at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta. The young voices will be performing with the Atlanta Sacred Chorale and the Yuletide Brass Ensemble. Ticket information for this concert is available at www.atlantasacredchorale.org or by calling 770-399-7678.

The younger voices of the Treble Choir will have two of their own concerts. The first is at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Delmar Gardens Festival of Trees. This will be celebrated at the Delmar Gardens Retirement Center, 3100 Club Drive in Lawrenceville. There is no admission charge. The second, "Treble Choir Family Christmas Concert," will be presented at 7 p.m. Dec. 18. This will be held in the Grand Hall of the Children's Museum at the Hudgens Center for the Arts, and again there is no admission charge.

One of the most exciting developments with the Gwinnett Young Singers this year has been the development of a choir just for young men. Phillip Shoultz III will lead these gentlemen as they perform, first in the Duluth Holiday Festival at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in Duluth's City Center. Next they will be featured at "Christmas By Candlelight with the Gwinnett Choral Guild," scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at the First United Methodist Church of Buford, 285 E. Main St. For tickets to this event, visit www.gwinnettchoralguild.org.

Capping off the year, selected members of the Concert and Hudgens choirs will travel to North Carolina for "Candlelight Christmas Concert at the Biltmore House in Asheville." The event begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 27. For tickets, visit www.biltmore.com.

Finally, ringing in the New Year will be the Georgia Young Men's Ensemble as they perform at Lawrenceville Rings New Year's Eve celebration, taking place Dec. 31 in downtown Lawrenceville. For more information on this event, visit www.visitlawrenceville.com.
