Gas leak shuts road
NORCROSS - Construction crews digging close to the roadway near Buford Highway and Langford Road in Norcross on Wednesday afternoon struck a gas main causing a leak. An emergency crew from Atlanta Gas Light responded to the scene to control the leak while firefighters monitored gas readings in the area, according to a Gwinnett County Fire Department release. Two southbound lanes of Buford Highway between Langford Road and Herrington Drive were closed initially, but police were able to open one lane shortly after the gas company arrived. The road was closed for about two hours, the release said. Fire burns in field LAWRENCEVILLE - Firefighters are unsure what caused a two-acre brush fire behind a Lawrenceville subdivision Wednesday. Nearby residents reported the blaze near Huntcrest Way and North Brown Road shortly before 3:30 p.m., Gwinnett County Fire Department Lt. Thomas Rutledge wrote in a release. Fire crews found dry sage brush burning in the open field and were able to contain the fire to the field. Men bust windows during robbery LAWRENCEVILLE - Two Domino's Pizza employees had their vehicles windows smashed by two men looking for money Tuesday, according to a police report. Two white men in ski masks approached the employees as they entered their vehicles outside the pizza business on New Hope Road, the report said. The men busted out a driver's side window and when they discovered he had no money they moved on to a female employee's vehicle. The woman handed over a bank deposit bag containing about $500 before the men fled on foot.More like this story
