Dr. John Allen Garner, 43, of 404 Pierpont Court, Canton, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Emory University Hospital. He was born in Atlanta on December 16, 1963. A 1982 graduate of Norcross High School, Allen was a graduate of Georgia State University and the Emory University School of Medicine. He was employed by Emory University as an associate professor and practiced internal medicine as a hospitalist at the Cartersville Medical Center. Allen was the grandson of Dr. & Mrs. John P. Garner and the great-grandson of Dr. & Mrs. James Ryan Garner. Survivors include his wife, Brandy Garner; his daughter, Ryan Nicole; his son, Thomas Jackson; his parents, Ryan and Donna Garner and Dan and Anita Simmons; his brother, Jimmy Garner; his sisters, Darlene Gaboriau, Dee Zeh, Tina Garner, and Nina Dean; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, as well as many beloved friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dr. John Allen Garner Memorial Fund to benefit patients in need.
