Two-time defending state champion Norcross is still on top.
The preseason Georgia Sportswriters Association basketball poll keeps the champion Blue Devil at No. 1 in Class AAAAA just ahead of Wheeler. Meadowcreek at No. 6 and Parkview at No. 10 are the only other Gwinnett AAAAA boys teams in the rankings. Joining Norcross with a No. 1 ranking out of Gwinnett County are the Wesleyan girls in AA. The Wolves were state runners-up last season, failing to No. 5-ranked GAC in the finals. The Buford girls are No. 3 in the AA poll. In the girls AAAAA poll, defending state and national champion Collins Hill is No. 5 a slot behind Region 7-AAAAA foe Mill Creek. Among the losses from the Eagles' team was two-time Naismith Award winner Maya Moore, who is now playing at UConn. The Berkmar girls are tied with Houston County at No. 7 in the AAAAA poll. Wesleyan is the highest ranked Gwinnett team in the boys AA poll at No. 3 with Buford coming in tied at No. 8 with Dodge County. The GAC boys also received votes. - From staff reportsMore like this story
