Bott passing for two more, Central whipped Shiloh 35-27 Friday at Shiloh
Both schools finished out of the playoffs in Region 8-AAAAA, but Bott
won the battle of the sophomore quarterbacks against Shiloh's Mark
Wright as each team began preparing for next season.
With juniors Drake and receiver Malcolm Moulton also returning, the
Black Knights (4-6, 2-5) will have the nucleus of a strong offense going

Bott and the Black Knights answered quickly with two TD passes. Central
drove 74 yards for the tying touchdown after making a first down on a
four-and-one in its own territory and getting 15 yards later in the
drive following a personal foul penalty by Shiloh (2-8, 1-6). On
third-and-9 from the Shiloh 17, Bott hit wide receiver Danny Sekerak for
Bott took over the quarterback job at mid-season and earned praised from
Central Gwinnett head coach Dennis Roland.
"Our kids played hard and Steven played his best game of the season
tonight," Roland said.
But the play of the game came on Central's next possession. On a
third-and-7 from its own 17, Moulton made a one-handed catch of a short
Bott pass, ducked under a defender, then ran across the field and down
the left sideline for an 83-yard TD.
"It's the best catch I've ever seen him make," said Roland.
Drake took over in the second half, often taking direct snaps from
center and darting through the Shiloh line for quick gains. With three
second half scores, and a two-point conversion, he finished with 15 TDs
for the season and earned the game ball from Roland. He carried the ball
36 times for 185 yards.
After carrying 17 times for only 61 yards in the first half, Drake score
twice in the third quarter on two 7-yard runs. He sealed the game with a
1-yard score after Shiloh had closed the gap to 15 points early in the
