Ruth Ann Edson went to be with the Lord, November 3, 2007 at 4:01 p.m. after a courageous battle against cancer. Our loving thanks go to Embracing Hospice for her care and support of her family the last month of her life along with all of her many friends. Mrs. Edson was born in Terre Haute, IN to her mother, Eunice Cook and her father, Clarence Schwartz. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Edson of Lilburn, GA; children, Alicia Allen of Hilton Head, SC, Lee Edson of Houston, TX, Jeff Edson of Lilburn, GA, Sara Hyatt of Lilburn, GA; 1 sister, Alice Tarrh in Terre Haute, IN and 2 brothers, Robert Schwartz of Terre Haute, IN and Michael Schwartz of Provo, UT; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren with another on the way. She was a member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church, actively involved in the friendship class, woman's circle, The Young at Heart, and Senior Adult Ministry. She was an avid canasta, bridge and rummikube enthusiast as well as winning medals in the Senior Olympics in Gwinnett County. Ruth Ann graduated from Honey Creek High School in Terre Haute, IN. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 63 years. She was secretary for the Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force at Tyndell Field during World War 2 where Joe was stationed. The viewing will take place at Horis A. Ward Stone Mountain Chapel Monday from 6-8 pm and funeral services to be held at Mountain Park United Methodist Church, 1405 Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain, GA at 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 6, 2007. Her family is requesting donations to Mountain Park United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
