Crawfish boil to benefit research

SUWANEE - A crawfish boil to benefit an Atlanta hospital will be held at a Gwinnett County venue this weekend.

The 16th annual Crawfish Boil will be held at the Olde Atlanta Club Sports Park located at 5750 Olde Atlanta Parkway in Suwanee beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday.

All proceeds will benefit Northside Hospital's Leukemia Research Fund, according to a hospital press release.

The event is being held in honor of Bill Kelly of Suwanee, who was diagnosed with AML leukemia in 2002 and treated at Northside Hospital.

"The staff at the Blood and Marrow Transplant Group of Georgia and the BMT unit at Northside Hospital are so wonderful," Lisa Kelly, Bill Kelly's wife, said in a press release. "Our doctors were phenomenal and basically carried us all the way through. I don't think we could have made it without them."

This year's event will feature the seafood boil, cajun dishes such as jambalaya and red beans and rice, plus live music from local artists.

This is the third year the fundraising boil has benefited the hospital's leukemia fund, and the event has raised nearly $10,000 for the hospital's research fund, which supports the Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit of the hospital.

Tickets for the all-you-can-eat boil are $50 per family. For more information or to make a reservation, call 770-889-3232 or 770-813-0202.
