SUWANEE - The Gwinnett County Board of Education on Wednesday appointed four school district employees to be school principals.
Maryanne Grimes, an assistant principal at the GIVE Center West, is now the principal of the school. Jim Kahrs, the former principal, has accepted a position with the Board of Regents.
Grimes has worked for Gwinnett County Public Schools since 1986, and she has served as an administrator at the GIVE Center West since 2003.
Her appointment was effective immediately, but the other three appointments are effective July 2.
Calvin Watts, a staffing director in the system's human resources division, will become principal at Trickum Middle School. Lynne Davis, the school's current principal, is retiring at the end of the school year.
Watts has worked for GCPS since 2001, when he was hired to be an assistant principal at Bethesda Elementary. He has also served as the principal of Annistown Elementary.
Nancy Morrison, principal of Bethesda Elementary, will lead Walnut Grove Elementary. Walnut Grove's current principal, Kevin Bracher, has accepted a leadership role at a private school.
Morrison has worked for GCPS since 1988, and has been an administrator since 1998.
Deborah Harris, an assistant principal at Meadowcreek High, will fill the leadership vacancy at Bethesda Elementary.
Harris has worked for GCPS since 1996, and she has been an administrator at Meadowcreek High since 2003.
