Teen injured in single-car crash

DULUTH - Investigators say speed may have caused an 18-year-old Buford girl to wreck her Jeep on Sunday morning.

Kathryn Lynn Hamilton was thrown from her 1989 Jeep Wrangler when the vehicle overturned about 9:46 a.m. on Pleasant Hill Road near Breckinridge Boulevard, said Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney.

While changing lanes, Moloney said, Hamilton turned a curve, lost control and her Jeep flipped. Moloney said the teen suffered serious injures and was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where she is expected to survive.

As of press time Monday Hamilton was in good condition, said Gwinnett Medical Center spokesman Kyle Brogdon.

Mildred Naomi Turner, 82, of Coral Springs, Fla., formerly of Atlanta, died at home on April 24, 2007 after a long illness. Mrs. Turner was born on March 5, 1925 in Tallapoosa, Ga. to the late John Barton and Carrie Speights Hansard. She attended business college in Atlanta and worked at Atlanta Fixture & Sales until she married her sweetheart, Ray Shelton Turner, Sr., on October 2, 1945. After raising their three children, Mrs. Turner, went back into the business world and brilliantly picked up where she left off. She worked in the offices of the now closed Ellman's (Service Merchandise) and Bell's Craft Stores until her retirement in 1990. She is survived by her son, Ray Shelton Turner, Jr., Ellijay; daughters, Carol Moseley, Braselton, and Gayle MacGregor, Coral Springs, Fla.; one sister, Hazel Griffith, Covington; and one brother, William L. Hansard, Lithia Springs; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held May 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Liberty United Methodist Church, 26 Charlie Smith Road, Braselton, Ga. 30517. Marty Byars will deliver the eulogy. SCHWAGER, HENRY

Mr. Henry Emil Schwager, age 86, beloved and faithful husband of 52 years, father, and grandfather (Opa) went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2007. Born October 3rd, 1920 to Emil and Louise Schwager in Germany. He immigrated to the US with his parents when he was 8 years old, residing in New Jersey for over 70 years. He served in the US Air Force during WWII in Italy and Africa. He retired in 1988 as an engineering technician after 34 years of service to the M&M Mars Company in Hackettstown, NJ. He was gifted in and enjoyed home repair and improvement and helping others. He loved flying and had his private pilot's license. He was an active member of Bethlehem Church in Randolph, NJ for almost 40 years, and upon moving to Georgia in 1999, has been a faithful member of Collins Hill Baptist Church, Lawrenceville. Henry was also a longtime active member of the Gideon's International. His love and the memory of his life will be cherished forever by his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: his beloved wife, Ruth Schwager, his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Laurie Schwager, their children, Jared and Rebecca, his daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Paul Daunno, and their daughter, Sarah. Police seek suspect, 32, in shooting

NORCROSS - Police are looking for a man suspected in the slaying of a 30-year-old man who was shot to death Sunday.

Officers responded to 1528 Eason Court about 3:23 a.m. to reports of shots fired, said Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney.
