Gas leak shuts down Loganville Highway
•GRAYSON - A gas leak caused Loganville Highway to close in both directions between Patricia Terrace and Copper Road on Thursday afternoon.
Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Thomas Rutledge said construction crews working on a road-widening project hit a gas line, causing the leak.
According to a Fire Department press release, Lawrenceville Gas had to dig in two places to stop the leak coming from the six-inch steel line.
Fire authorities said no evacuations were made and no injuries were reported.
Man forced to make cash withdraw
•Snellville - Snellville police are looking for the person who robbed a man at a Snellville bank ATM on Wednesday night.
Snellville Chief of Police Roy Whitehead said a man pulled up to the ATM at the BB&T bank on Scenic Highway near Dogwood Road about 10 p.m. and a man armed with a gun demanded the driver withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash.
Whitehead said the thief was described as a black man dressed in dark clothing carrying a handgun.
Whitehead said this type of robbery has not happened in the area before.
