Interment will follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA. THAXTON, DAVID

David A. Thaxton, 46, beloved father, son, brother and friend died May 5 at Northside Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was a resident of Buford, GA for 14 years. He was born May 2, 1961 in New Orleans, LA, and in 1963 his family moved to Asheville, NC. He graduated from A. C. Reynolds High School in 1979 and continued his education at Western Carolina University, where he received a Degree in Computer Science. His career began in Charlotte, NC with Digital Equipment Corp. and continued with Compaq Corp. and eventually Hewlett Packard as a software specialist. He enjoyed a long and committed career in computer support service. David was accustomed to making strong commitments to his family, friends and employers. He was an avid athlete who enjoyed a good hike, especially in the mountains of western North Carolina. In high school, he played quarterback for the football team and was voted MVP in his senior season. He also enjoyed wind surfing, golfing and especially tennis and was on the USTA State Championship Team in 2002. David was also the dedicated scout leader for Webelos Den 545 up to his death. Those left to cherish his memory are: his loving Son, Nicholas of Buford, GA; Mother, Betty J. Thaxton of Asheville, NC; brothers, Tommy (Carolyn) Thaxton of Cumming, GA, Christopher Thaxton and Michael (Yulya) Thaxton, both of Asheville, NC; Uncle Don and Aunt Tillie Stout of Menomonee Falls, WI; Aunt Shirley and Uncle Norb Stich of Menomonee Falls, WI; Aunt Laura Mitchell of Burlington, NC; many Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and his Best Friends, Jim Fillers and Lee Bowles; also his three companion Dachshunds, Angel, Charlotte and Roger. A memorial service is scheduled at Buford Presbyterian Church on May 12th at 11 AM. Burial will take place on May 19 at the Thaxton-Barnwell Cemetery in Prospect Hill, NC. David was a health-conscious non-smoker. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, concerned family and friends make a contribution to the American Lung Cancer Society for research in finding a cure for lung cancer. He was loved so dearly and his kindness, love, and thoughtfulness will be missed by family and friends. He is gone from our sight but forever in our hearts and memories. Arrangements by Junior E. Mrs. Rebecca M. Fagan, age 67, a lifetime resident of Forsyth County passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Mr. Jimmy Fagan; her father, Mr. Fay Martin; her mother-in-law Mrs. Bertie Fagan. Mrs. Fagan was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. She was a life long piano teacher serving Forsyth County and surrounding areas; a member of the Forsyth County Singing Class; a faculty member of the North Georgia School of Gospel Music; recipient of the 2005 Georgia State Gospel Singing Convention Musician of the Year award; Class President of the first graduating class of Forsyth County High School in 1956; and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Susan F. Nunnally of Cumming, Angie and Randy Richards of Cumming; grandchildren, Kristin Thornton, Kayla, Jonathan and Julie Richards all of Cumming; mother, Mrs. Juanita Martin of Cumming; brothers and sister-in-laws, Ronald and Linda Martin of Alpharetta, Terry and Beverly Martin of Cumming; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Larry Vaughan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wynette F. and Herb Dailey of Cumming; special aunt and caregiver, Flora Loggins of Gainesville; other family members, Junie Fagan and family, Kathryn Martin and family; several aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Sally Lenore Sammon McKelvey, of Lawrenceville, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Born December 4, 1937 in Winder, Georgia to Alvin and Mera Sammon, Sally was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Q. Sammon, Sr. She graduated in 1955 from Lawrenceville High School and attended Emory University. She was active in the revitalization of the streetscape for downtown Lawrenceville as a member of the Downtown Development Authority. Sally is survived by husband of fifty years, Victor A. McKelvey. Sally and Vic had three children one of which, Elizabeth McKelvey Jones preceded her in death. She is survived by son, Allen L. McKelvey, wife, Sharon, their three children, Joshua, Geoffrey, and Victoria; daughter, Lenore M. Boatright, husband, Cecil, their children, Grace and Mary; Randy & Elizabeth Jones' children, Michael and Bobby; brothers and sisters in law, Frank & Betty Ann Sammon, Carter & Peggy Sammon, and John Sammon and Nancy Norton; and special aunt, Grace Carter and cousins, nieces and nephews.
