DULUTH - It seems rap and the Gwinnett Arena are just not meant to be.
Arena officials announced Tuesday that Saturday's concert featuring Ludacris and Busta Rhymes has been canceled for good, due to "unforeseen circumstances." The concert, called All Call - End of the School Year Megafest, had already been rescheduled from its original April 28 date.
Busta Rhymes and E40 were the two artists scheduled to perform the first time around, when the concert was called Bay to the A Megafest. In late April, Atlanta rapper Ludacris was added to the slate and the concert was pushed back and given a new name. Anyone who purchased Megafest tickets can get a refund at the place of purchase, said Arena spokesman Chris Hendley.
The Arena at Gwinnett Center also announced Tuesday that "Playhouse Disney Live" will be visiting Gwinnett. The new touring show is scheduled to visit the Duluth venue Sept. 3.
"Playhouse Disney Live" marks the first time all the favorite "Playhouse Disney" characters will perform together onstage. Among the characters featured in the interactive show will be stars from "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "Little Einsteins," "Handy Manny" and "My Friends Tigger and Pooh." Gwinnett will be the third stop on the 70-city tour. Tickets for the show will be available Tuesday, and prices will range from $17 to $52.
