Stewart - Holbrook

Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Stewart of Crawfordville announce the engagement of their daughter, Leila Ellington Stewart of Loganville, to William Andrew Holbrook of Buford, son of Jerry Holbrook of Lawrenceville and Betty Crowell of Buford.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Laura Ellington of Crawfordville and the late Paul Ellington, and Colon and Sybil Stewart of Crawfordville. She is a 1999 graduate of Nathanael Greene Academy in Siloam. She is a 2003 summa cum laude graduate of Piedmont College, where she received a bachelor's degree in music. She is a 2005 graduate of Piedmont College, where she received a master's degree in education. She is employed by J.C. Magill Elementary School in Loganville as a kindergarten teacher.

The future groom is the grandson of Buford (Butch) Appling of Dacula and the late Grace Appling, and the late Herschel Holbrook and Robbie Mae Holbrook. He is a 2003 graduate of Dacula High School. He attended Georgia College and State University. He is employed by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. He is the owner of Holbrook Landscaping.

The wedding is planned for June 30 at Liberty Hall in Crawfordville.

Spencer - Barnes

Dale and Teresa Spencer of Toccoa announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Michelle Spencer, to Joshua Blake Barnes, son of Ricky and Lindy Barnes of Buford.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Spencer of Toccoa, and Johnette Chasteen of Asheville, N.C. She is a 2002 graduate of Stephens County High School in Toccoa. She is a 2006 graduate of North Georgia College and State University, where she received a degree in early childhood and special education. She is employed by Gainesville City Schools as a first-grade teacher at Fair Street Elementary.

The future groom is the grandson of Fred and Inez Barnes of Gainesville, and Bob and Mary Ann Forrest of Buford. He is the great grandson of Edna Bryant of Atlanta. He is a 1999 graduate of North Gwinnett High School. He is a 2004 graduate of North Georgia College and State University, where he received a degree in business administration. He is a 2006 graduate of the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla., where he received a master's degree. He is employed by Young Harris College as the director of student activities.

The wedding is planned for June 16 in Dahlonega.

Duhon - Bissell

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Duhon of Jesup announce the engagement of their daughter, Christy Nicole Duhon of Canton, to Brian Christopher Bissell of Canton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bissell.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rowland of Jesup, the late Cecil Hardee and the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Duhon. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she received a bachelor's degree in management information systems. She is employed by McKesson.

The future groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sams of Vienna, W.Va., and the late Doris Sams, and Betty Bissell of Peachtree City and the late Ed Bissell. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He is employed by Solvay Pharmaceuticals Inc.

The wedding is planned for May 19 in Jesup.

Uhlmeyer - Burgett

Dunn - Howanitz

Pamela Thompson Dunn of Atlanta announces the engagement of her daughter, Julie Anne Dunn, to Jason Edward Howanitz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Howanitz Sr. of Birmingham, Ala.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James and Claire Thompson of Lawrenceville. She is a 1998 graduate of St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta. She is a graduate of Auburn University, where she received a master's degree in education. She teaches in the Mountain Brook school district near Birmingham, Ala.

The future groom is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he received a bachelor's degree. He is attending the University of Alabama, where he is pursuing a master's degree in civil engineering. He is employed by the Jefferson County Department of Health as an air pollution engineer.

Burkett - Hoffson

The future groom is the grandson of Mrs. Woodrow Corbin of Lawrenceville and the late Woodrow Corbin, and the late Col. and Mrs. W. Arthur Hoffson. He is a graduate of Florida State University. He is employed by Maxim Healthcare Services as the Southeast regional manager.

The wedding is planned for Aug. 18 at the Delray Beach Marriott in Delray Beach, Fla.
