Alfred Donald Sandridge, age 60, of Walnut Grove Way, Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 pm Sunday, May 6, 2007 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Sandridge was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Roy Franklin Sandridge and Edna Julianna (Ulko) Sandridge. He was a 1965 graduate of Dundalk High School in Maryland. Mr. Sandridge served in the United States Army from May 24, 1966 until he was honorably discharged May 23, 1969. He has been a member of Free Chapel Worship Center for the past five years. Mr. Sandridge was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Sandridge and Wade Sandridge. Elizabeth Jean "Betty" (Getzinger) Bryan age 63 of Panama City, Florida passed away in her home with Robert "Chipper"Bryan, niece Maria Hansen, Kathy Meade and brother Nick Getzinger and his daughter Pam at her bedside on Tuesday, April 24th, 2007. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 15th, 1943 and predeceased by her parents Walter and Frances Getzinger, brother Ernest Lee Getzinger and Godmother Lucille DeCant. Betty was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and person to everyone she came in contact with. She was a 1961 graduate of Clay Senior High School. Betty moved to Georgia in 1965 and to Florida a few years back. While in Georgia she was employed with the IRS and with Alltel Communications Corporate Branch in Norcross Georgia until her brain injury in 1993. She loved her family, thus sending her on a journey in search of their roots. Tracing the family tree and all of its branches, some back to the 1300's. This led her to having a website to share with others. She also enjoyed oil painting, crafts and gardening. Many of her paintings and crafts have been on display at different art shows. Throughout her life she always gave inspiration and leadership to others being a Girl Scout leader, starting the first 4th of July parade in Deluth Georgia, a tradition that has grown and continues on today. She volunteered at Second Chance of Northwest Florida for Brain Injured Adults where she helped others by sharing her own experiences. She was also a member of Eastern Star, Chapter 423 in Norcross, Georgia. Betty is survived by her husband Robert "Chipper" Grantham Bryan of Panama City, Florida; her two daughters Tina DeCant Elkins, Danette DeCant Jester, as well as brothers Nicholas Bernard Getzinger, Daniel Gene Getzinger, Walter James Getzinger; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; also surviving are 16 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Per Betty's request for after her cremation, a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 5th, 2007 at 2:00pm at St. Dominic's Catholic Church located at 3308 E. 15th St., Panama City, Florida. Mr. Hubert Alexander Moon, Sr., age 89 of Snellville, Georgia, passed away Thursday morning, May 3, 2007, after a long illness. He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Adeline; daughter, Cammy McCullough and her husband, Sam; son, Hubie Moon Junior and his wife, Pam; Grandchildren, Taylor, Matt, Corey, Melissa and her husband, Mack, and Katie and her husband, Ray. Tony Newberry, age 23, of Sugar Hill, GA, died May 1, 2007 from injuries sustained in a road rage incident. Staff Sgt. Michael R. Hullender, age 29, of Winder, GA, was killed in active duty in Iraq on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Staff Sgt. Hullender was born December 20, 1977 in DeKalb County, GA. He was a 1996 graduate of Norcross High School where he played offensive line in football as a line backer and also was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He attended West Georgia College majoring in business. Staff Sgt. Hullender, a medic, joined the Army in 1998. He prepared wounded soldiers for medical transport when he was killed. He also parachuted with other soldiers into Afghanistan soon after the September 11th attack. He was awarded a Bronze Star and also earned numerous medals and recognitions including the National Defense Service Medal, The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Sugar Hill United Methodist Church, 4600 Nelson Brogdon Boulevard, Sugar Hill, GA 30518-3479 with Rev. Mark Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA with full military honors.
