SUWANEE - Michael Romeo pitched a complete game on Wednesday, holding Peachtree Ridge to one run on six hits as Mill Creek nipped the Lions 2-1.
Romeo (4-4-) struck out one and walked one.
Denver Stovall went 2-for-4 with a double and run for Mill Creek (14-12, 11-5) while Kirklan Moore was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
The win, coupled with the Norcross loss, locks Mill Creek up as the No. 2 seed in Region 7-AAAAA.
Mill Creek will host the third seed from Region 6-AAAAA on May 11th in the first round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs.
Brookwood 5, Central 0
SNELLVILLE - Brookwood starter Elliot Coor was two outs away from a no-hitter on Wednesday as the Broncos shut out Central Gwinnett 5-0.
Coor allowed just one hit with five strikeouts to improve to 9-1.
Chase Hawkins went 3-for-3 for Brookwood while Justin White was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Parkview 6, Shiloh 3
SNELLVILLE - Theo Asher pitched five innings of scoreless ball with three strikeouts and Cliff Carter notched his fifth save as Parkview topped Shiloh 6-3 on Wednesday night.
Asher also went 3-for-4 at the plate while Austin Palmer blasted a two-run homer. Matt Foster also went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Curtis Keegan added a pair of hits with a run for Parkview (17-9, 8-4) while Zack Kilday and Josh Hall each had a hit and scored.
Berkmar 6, South 4
LILBURN - Berkmar's three seniors celebrated Senior Night with a 6-4 win over South Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Seniors Adam Bates, Kyle Cyprysiak and Cory Pitts combined for five hits with Bates going 3-for-3 with two runs. Mark Miller also had two hits and four RBIs .
Cyprysiak earned the win with 5 1/3 innings of work, allowing four runs with three strikeouts and two walks. Jarrett Rivera picked up the save with 1 2/3 of relief with two strikeouts.
For South, Brett Teschner was 2-for-3 while Lance Whatley was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Jason Dodson and Michael Moeller also each had a hit.
North 12, Duluth 0
DULUTH - North Gwinnett broke open a 1-0 game in the fifth inning with five runs as the Bulldogs went on to win 12-0 on Wednesday.
Will Huff and Travis Echols each launched three-run homers for North (23-3, 15-1) while Jeff Costardo added a two-run single.
Jim Moreland was a perfect 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI while Ronnie Stewart and Christopher Hawkins each went 2-for-3. Wyatt Brown (5-0) hurled five innings of scoreless ball with eight strikeouts and four hits for the win.
North, the Region 7-AAAAA champs, will host the fourth seed from Region 6-AAAAA next Friday to open the Class AAAAA state playoffs.
Dacula 8, Clarke Central 2
ATHENS - Dacula wrapped up the fourth seed in Region 8-AAAA on Wednesday with an 8-2 win over Clarke Central. Dacula (18-8, 16-8) will play at East Paulding in the first round of the Class AAAA state playoffs on May 11.
James Martone led the offense with five RBIs, going 2-for-3 with a three-run homer. Travis Blackburn added a hit and an RBI while Blair Frost was 2-for-3 and Isaiah Rowe finished 1-for-2.
One the mound, Zach Breaux pitched five innings of scoreless ball with two hits and five strikeouts to run his record to 6-0.
Brookwood 3, Centennial 0
LAWRENCEVILLE - The Brookwood girls tennis team continued its quest toward a state title with a 3-0 win over Centennial on Wednesday in the second round of the Class AAAAA state tournament at Rhodes Jordan Park.
Dana Guentert won at No. 1 singles, while the doubles teams of Lindsay Peyton and Jordan Johnston and Stephanie Hedlund and Nicole Hernandez cruised to easy victories as well.
The No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches were both stopped when Brookwood wrapped up its third point. The Broncos will play again on Tuesday against Northview in the quarterfinals.
Providence 5, Gordon Lee 0
NORCROSS - The Providence girls improved to 22-0 on the season and more importantly advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class AA state tournament with a 5-0 win over Gordon Lee on Tuesday at Hudlow Tennis Center.
Heather Heusel, Amanda Jackson and Liz Crist all won their singles matches for Providence, while the doubles teams of Rebecca Smith and Rachel Swindall and Meghan Milks and Emma Auman were also victorious.
Peachtree Ridge 3,
Kennesaw Mountain 0
SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge swept into the quarterfinals of the Class AAAAA state playoffs with a 3-0 sweep of Kennesaw Mountain in second-round action on Wednesday.
Tyler Droll won at No. 1 singles for the Lions while Dylan Higgins took the No. 2 singles match. Steven Menhorn and Jordan Kukler teamed up to complete the sweep with a win at No. 2 doubles.
Peachtree Ridge will host Northview next Monday in the quarterfinals.
