LAWRENCEVILLE - Creekland Middle School locked its doors Thursday afternoon, keeping students inside while the Gwinnett County Police Department addressed an incident nearby, school system officials said.
The school was under a "soft lockdown" from about 1:45 to 2:25 p.m., said Jorge Quintana, Gwinnett County Public Schools spokesman. In such a situation, doors to the outside of the school are locked, but administrators are free to walk through the hallways and from classroom to classroom. The lockdown was lifted after Gwinnett police made an arrest, Quintana said. No details on the incident near the middle school at 170 Russell Road were available Thursday. A spokesman for the Police Department said he did not have any information available.More like this story
