DULUTH - "American Idol" fans, get ready. Atlanta radio station Star 94 is bringing "Idol" alums Chris Daughtry and Katharine McPhee to the Arena at Gwinnett Center as part of this year's Star Fest. The two idols will be accompanied by veteran performers Dashboard Confessional and newcomers Augustana at the June 2 event.
After "American Idol" season five contestant Chris Daughtry was voted off the show, he started his own band, Daughtry, and recorded a self-titled album. The album's first single is the rock-pop hit "It's Not Over," and the album reached double platinum status, selling more than 2 million copies.
Katharine McPhee has more of an R&B sound than her former competitor. Her single "Over It," from her debut album, was a hit on radio stations across the country and her album peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard charts.
Indie rock band Dashboard Confessional is best known for its hit "Vindicated" from the "Spider-Man 2" soundtrack, and other popular songs include "Hands Down" and "Stolen."
Augustana is a rising Los Angeles-based band known for its 2006 single "Boston." The song reached No. 96 on the Billboard Top 200 list.
Star Fest will begin at 7 p.m. June 2. The ticket prices will range from $27 to $57 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. The Arena at Gwinnett Center is located at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth. Call 404-249-6400 or visit www.ticketmaster.com to purchase tickets.
